Volunteers at Holker Garden Festival had a fantastic result with our plant crèche and gift stall at this popular show in Cumbria. We raised almost £800 on the crèche and were delighted to sell over £1,000 worth of goods in aid of the charity from our gift stall. The sun shone and the visitors flocked to the showground, you can see from the picture how full the plant crèche was!
The first of our Special Events was held in the region in mid June, guests were treated to a private tour of the glasshouses and kitchen garden at Chatsworth House. For a full day guests soaked up the knowledge and experience of the fantastic gardens team, breaking at lunch for a tasty and delicious meal in the private Hartington Room of the Stables. Welcome...
...to Perennial's North West region pages. We have plenty to get involved with 2011 with some successful shows and events already under our belt. It's with huge thanks to our volunteers that we are able to fundraise at so many shows and events successfully, running plant crèches, retail stalls, open gardens and much more. If you'd like to get involved please get in touch, here are some of the opportunities we've got this year...
Volunteers were out in force at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show in April, running two very successful plant crèches and a stall selling our charity gifts, cards and gardening accessories. We took donations on the plant crèche that totalled just under £3,000! With many generous visitors completing our gift aid forms this increases the total by around a further £250. The next show at this venue will be in the Autumn, from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th September, so do come along and support us.
A hugely successful 'Open Garden' event was held at Stone Rings Close in Harrogate over the weekend of 7th and 8th May with proceeds shared between Perennial and the local 'Friends of the Samaritans'. Six gardens were open and our volunteers welcomed hundreds of visitors through the gates to tour the beautiful gardens. With teas, cakes, books and quizzes all on sale the event looks set to break all previous records, looking at a grand total of over £2,800! Well done everyone who was involved, it was hard work but so worthwhile.
This year, local Plant Fair organiser Judy Popley is supporting Perennial by offering us a free stand at each of her Flower Power Plant Fairs across the North of England. We've already had volunteers busy attending and organising these for us, but if you could help with some of the events do get in touch. Sales of our charity goods have been great at the Fairs, so we're keen to attend each one.
