Peter contacted us when he needed help with the cost of adaptations to his Motability vehicle. His chronic health problems, which included spinal arthritis and lung disease, had forced him to take early retirement from his job as a landscape manager. Peter's health problems were exacerbated by his financial situation; unaware that he was entitled to claim some benefits, Peter had used up all his savings and was now struggling to cope.

Our caseworker helped Peter submit a successful benefits claim, increasing his income by £77 per week, which made a huge difference to his quality of life. We also secured funds for the adaptations to his vehicle and provided assistance towards the purchase of an adjustable electric bed. More recently we have been able to help Peter access funds to pay for his own care needs, giving him a far greater degree of independence.

Peter had expressed an interest in visiting in the Eden Project, so when a kind Perennial supporter made her holiday cottage available for Peter and a friend to stay in, we were delighted to help him fulfil this long-held ambition.
